Herbert Smith Freehills has announced that Jojo Fan, a commercial litigation partner, will replace Matt Emsley as China Managing Partner.
Fan has a long career in commercial litigation, with particular expertise in banking litigation. She joined Herbert Smith's Hong Kong office in 2013 and was promoted to partner in 2020, during which time she was seconded to UBS Hong Kong as Head of Anti-Corruption and Bribery in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Herbert Smith, Fan practiced law at Baker McKenzie.
Matthew Smith, currently Managing Partner of Herbert Smith China, joined the firm's Hong Kong office in 1998. He specialises in corporate finance and will focus on developing the firm's capital markets business in Hong Kong.
